Elevator Pitch
During the prohibition era in Virginia three brothers make and market moonshine, using their isolated diner as a cover. When they fall in with a big time mobster their fortunes improve, but they have to deal with a corrupt DA and his deputy. The eldest brother’s reputation for being immortal is tested as the violence increases.
Content
The country and communities of Virginia well evoked, although the filming was done in Georgia. Plenty of 1930s cars and trucks bumping their way along unpaved roads. Some quite extreme violence, some nudity although as usual whoever wrote the content advisory on IMDB saw more than I did. Constant drinking of moonshine.
A View
Actually quite a grim movie, pretty well presented, so it might not be quite correct to say I enjoyed it, but I like films which portray times and environments I know nothing about, so this fitted the bill. It was very widely distributed during 2012 and made money.
