Ted 2 (2015)

Plot of Ted 2: Ted, the living teddy bear who got a life in the previous film is working as a cashier in a supermarket, while his wife Tami-Lynn is working as a shelf filler. Ted is still best friends with John Bennett. The marriage is not going well, until a friend suggests that they have a child. They need a sperm donor but in their efforts to find one things go badly wrong and anyway it seems that Tami-Lynn cannot conceive. With John’s help they decide to adopt but find that Ted is not a person, so that the marriage is dissolved and he loses his job. They receive help from a lawyer who sets his niece Sam Jackson on the case, pro bono. Meanwhile Ted’s old adversary Donny, who is working as a cleaner for Hasbro, suggests to his boss that they capture Ted to find out how he works, and initiate a whole new series of Teds. Everything comes to a head at ComicCon.

Content: There is no sex or nudity, but much beer drinking and some smoking of dope, sometimes from a bong in the shape of a large erect penis. John is depressed and has become addicted to porn, until Ted makes him smash up his laptop. In the search for a sperm donor there is disaster in the sperm storage room, Once they get Sam the lawyer on board things look up a bit, since she is also a weed smoker. Driving across the country Ted crashes their car, but they find themselves in a marijuana farm. The attempts to get help from a major lawyer are unsuccessful, and they end up in ComicCon where John is injured saving Ted from Donny.

A View: This is a film containing quite a few stand alone jokes roughly connected by the plot. Let’s face it, it’s Seth MacFarlane’s style. And they are mostly based on Ted’s sweary and abusive language. I really liked the idea that Sam J. Jones was at ComicCon, based solely on his appearance in Flash Gordon in 1980. I still watch it when it comes up on our cable. They also seem to have managed to include Hasbro as a product placement, without them actually having to do anything. The critics did not like it much and honestly, neither did I.

Fun Fact: This movie is full of references to others, which might please some viewers.
