Plot of Hot Shots 2: Yet another attempted rescue of Americans from the Iraqui dictator has been unsuccessful, so the only answer appears to be to get Topper Harley out of retirement. Topper has baggage in the form of Ramada, a former girlfriend and is easily seduced into taking part by another female, the sexy Michelle. Once Topper embarks on the rescue with three assistants, and somehow the old girlfriend Ramada many wild things happen, including a boat trip and, once in Sadam territory, firefights with many Iraqi troops and Saddam himself, who has to face up to the American president, Tug Benson, who likes to get involved in these outings.
Content: There is a lot of implied sex, particularly between Topper and Michelle who get it on in a chauffeur driven limo and later clad only in her underpants she launches herself off a diving board onto a recumbent Topper. It is jokey stuff. There is also drinking and smoking and a lot of scenes which are intended to spoof actual scenes in Rambo movies in particular. On the fishing boat the Americans are faced with an Iraqi gunboat which they engage in a firefight. In a brief but expensive scene the fishing boat is approached by a Vietnam era river boat carrying Capt Willard, played by Martin Sheen. As it powers past the father and son exchange greetings. Once on land they are almost continuously firing their machine guns building a record body count.
A View: This film made quite a bit of money, possibly off the back of the first film, but I thought it was generally too silly to be worth recommending to anybody. This could be just because of the period in which it was made, and the accepted format of which this could have been the last one. In order to be suitably beefed up Charlie Sheen apparently spent many hours developing his muscles. A waste of time really. And it would probably be a waste of time for you to watch it.
Fun Fact: For some reason in the closing credits it says that Richard Crenna invented tartar sauce. Rubbish of course.
