Elevator Pitch: Mac and Kelly Radner are new parents living what seems to them an idyllic life in thre LA suburbs, until a bunch of students turn the house next door into a frat house. When the fraternity hold the first of a number of parties Mac and Kelly go to complain but are persuaded to join in the fun. But when their life is changed by the continuous noise next door they go to the Dean of the University and find that the frat guys have one strike left before being shut down. They therefore have to make a plan which will result in peace being restored.
Content: There is quite a bit if sex, and some female nudity, but not really at the same time. A lot of parties take place with music, swimming and drinking, as well a some smoking of weed. There are smart exchanges between Mac and the frat guys, and we see him in the office not getting any work done. He manages to flood the frat house basement and to pay for the repairs, the students sell dildos made from moulds of their erect penises. The plot builds up to an enormous party, but Mac and Kelly have to somehow make sure it goes on until the police arrive.
A View: Surprisingly this film was well liked by the critics, mainly because it is suggested that the married couple are constantly concerned with their own move from being fun guys to responsible adults, and the frat guys similarly concerned but from the opposite stance. Rose Byrne was much praised for her performance, and she and Haston Sage were nominated for “Best on Screen Kiss” by the MTV Movie Awards . Seth Rogan was himself as usual, which involves too much shouting and smart talk for me. So, not really my cup of tea, but I can see that some would find it attractive.
Additional Info: One of those films which made its production cost back on its first weekend – in this case on its first day!
