Elevator Pitch
Harry Callahan and his partner are nominally on stake-out duty due to the perception by his boss that he is a maverick, but when villains begin to be gunned down he is recalled and given the job of arresting a mobster who might possibly be carrying out the hits. Things do not go according to plan and Harry begins to suspect that there is a vigilante group within the police force carrying out the hits.
Content.
There are a number of set pieces in which Harry Callahan prevents robberies and on one case foils an aircraft hijack. Criminals and their associates and hangers-on are terminated by unidentified policemen. There is tension as the hero begins to track down the killers, and as a result his life and that of his partner are at risk. He is hit on by a couple of women, and in one case goes to bed with her. Hence a bit of implied sex, some nudity and quite a lot of violence with all sorts of firearms.
A View | This is a pretty straightforward thriller which has been well liked by the general public although I found the indiscriminate killing of the villain’s hangers-on to be a bit disturbing. If you are a Dirty Harry fan you will not be disappointed, but if you come to the franchise anew watch the first film first. | ||
