Mortdecai (2015)

Duration 1h 47m Rating (UK) 12A
Source of story A series of books by Kyril Bonfiglioli
Writer/s Script Eric Aronson
Director David Koepp
Starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Bettany, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum, Paul Whitehouse
Elevator Pitch A debonair art dealer and man about town, who has a tough protective manservant and aristocratic wife, is tasked by the secret service with recovering a Goya painting which may or may not have the number of a Swiss bank account on the back.
Content A lot of discussion about Mortdecai’s moustache, time spent in a variety of country houses, British libraries and auction houses. Some fights with hand guns, swords and fists. Very little nudity, some sounds of sex.
A View There were three jokes. Johnny Depp is a British aristocrat but he is American. He has a moustache which his wife does not like. Gwyneth Paltrow is an English aristocrat, but she is American. None of them are funny. At the end of watching this I felt that I had completed some particularly arduous physical task. Hell while it was taking place and really pleased it was over.
