Elevator Pitch |
A bunch of mentally challenged bodybuilders concoct a scheme to kidnap a rich gym client and exort money from him. They are successful, to an extent although they fail in their attempts to kill him. When their money starts to run out they decide on a further kidnap scheme, but right from the start, with the police on their trail, things begin to go wrong. |
Content |
A lot of bodybuilding, guys with their shirts off, and close-ups of girl’s bums. Time in the luxury dwellings of the Miami suburbs, and in the warehouses where the extortion takes place. Latterly there is some quite unpleasant violence. |
A View |
Critics were divided about this Michael Bay outing, and actually there is a lot to be liked about it as a black comedy, but it is too long, and maybe too close to the real events it fictionalises, since two of the characters portrayed were on death row in 2013, and may still be. It made a lot of money. |
