The Godfather: Part II

Released 1974 Rating X (over 18s) in UK
Director Francis Ford Coppola Writer/s Mario Puzo, Francis Ford Coppola
Starring Al Pacino, Robert De Nero, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton
Source of story A development from The Godfather
Elevator Pitch We move between the early life of Vito Corleone from his youth in Sicilly to his early successes in New York in the 1920s, and his son Michael’s increasing control of illegal activities in New York, Nevada and Cuba in the 1950s.
Content Numerous gangland executions of one sort or another. A lot of discussions in darkened rooms as plans are developed and discarded and the fate of men in the business is decided. A mostly brooding atmosphere.
A View It is probably necessary to see “The Godfather” before spending time on this very long film (3hrs 22mins). It may not be quite as good as “The Godfather” but it’s probably still worth your time. It won 6 Oscars and rated a 9.0 on IMDB.
