Summary: Dan Truckman has an argument with his boss Chuck Portnoy (a lady) and leaves with two others to start up his own metal swarf selling company. One, Tim McWinters, has been sacked having reached retirement age and the other, Mike Pancake, was only there for an interview. A year later Dan’s company have to opportunity to quote for big business with a company whose headquarters is in Germany so the three of them travel to Hamburg and then Berlin and (in summary) having many adventures on the way. But Chuck is also in with a chance of getting the business. To get close to the clients the trio visit a mixed sauna and a gay nightclub where one of the possible clients is having fun. But can they go on to make the deal?
Content: Well, the IMDb parental guidance had a lot of entries. There was a lot of nudity, ladies in a mixed sauna and more, some sex with male and female nudity and, weirdly, a number of male penises dangling through holes in the lavatory doors of a gay nightclub. Also a hell of a lot of drinking mainly of beer and some drug taking. Dan also has face to face discussions with his children and ongoingly via his tablet. There are also many business meeting which mostly go wrong and between the other events travelling by plane, train and car. There is one car crash from which they walk away.
A View: I only watch Vince Vaughn comedies in the remote hope that they will be funny. He has turned out to be a better dramatic actor. So I am with many others who did not enjoy this outing. It garnered mainly negative reviews and lost a lot of money despite its quite raunchy content. This could be at least in part because none of us has the faintest idea what a business selling swarf really is, and the film does not enlighten us. Can there be two such businesses in the world, or even one nightclub where people stick their dicks through holes in lavatory doors.? So this is not a fun film, but if you are determined to watch it don’t do so with your granny.
Of the other Vince Vaughn comedies I have watched the only one I would recommend is The Break-Up. His more dramatic outings worth a view include Dragged Across Concrete, Hacksaw Ridge and Be Cool
