Elevator Pitch: Roger Murtaugh is due to retire, and so is being looked after by Riggs, but nevertheless they together fail to defuse a bomb which destroys a building and results in them being demoted. But they become involved in a situation where guns are being stolen from police custody and used by gangs. In order to get them on the case they are reinstated and must cooperate with Internal Affairs agent Lorna Cole, to solve the crime. Their friend Leo, who is in real estate, is able to point them in the directions of the criminal’s lairs.
Content: No sex or nudity, but some almost smoking and some drinking. The guys fail to defuse a bomb and a building blows up. They participate in a vehicle chase using armoured cash delivery vehicles, and then get onto the serious stuff chasing down the arms dealers, and engaging in multiple firefights where they are mainly firing hand guns, and the villains have automatic weapons of various sorts. Riggs and Murtaugh bicker a lot.
A View: Really if you opt to watch this and have seen any of the others you know what to expect, and it delivers. It was not quite as well liked as the others up to this point but still made a fortune and so a sequel will follow. I am not a fan of too much bickering and they get pretty close to it, but that said it goes along fine and is probaby worth your time,. A watch for nothing if you already like that sort of thing.
Additional Info: The original script was developed by Jeffrey Boan, but the director did not like it, sacked him and hired Robert Mark Kamen to rewrite it, but it was still not what he wanted so he rehired Boan, to rewrite his own work. Carrie Fisher is also said to have contributed.
