Elevator Pitch |
SHIELD has been compromised and Nick Fury is on the run, but he manages to contact Captain America, recently awakened after time in suspended animation, before being killed. Cap and Black Widow set out to put things to rights apparently with the might of the secret security organisation, led by a mysterious super hero, the Winter Soldier, ranged against them. |
Content |
The superheros rescue the crew of a SHIELD ship from pirates, there are car chases and a number of battles between the good and the bad people, plus contemplative visits to the Smithonian. The extent to which SHIELD has been compromised is revealed and the heros and villains go on to fight for control of the three “Helicarriers” which could protect or destroy much of the population of America. |
A View |
This is really an “Avengers” film with a limited number of superheros. I quite liked the first act but began to enjoy it less as the set pieces became longer, noisier and more extreme. Actually I had though that Captain America was the Winter Soldier – just shows how much I know. Anyway, it cost a lot but made zillions so if “The Avengers” light your fire, it will be for you. |
