Elevator Pitch |
A sacked construction worker with inside knowledge of the operation of a speedway track develops a plan to rob it on a race day, using the expertise of an explosions man who is in prison, his one armed brother and his hairdresser sister. |
Content |
The construction worker, who lives in a trailer, gets the band together. He is has visiting rights with his daughter of whom his ex has custody. Quite a lot of drinking since the brother works in a bar. The heist, with a prison riot, some explosions, a Mustang V8 at speed and some smart dialogue in exaggerated Virginian accents. |
A View |
A small band of critics thought that this was complete rubbish, and I’m with them. The plan was blurred at the edges really preventing us from determining the precise modus operandi, and requiring us to do more than suspend disbelief. The subplots were desperate, including Seth MacFarlane with an accent half way between South London and Sydney. And “Country Roads” by John Denver – give me strength! |
