Elevator Pitch
A covert American anti-terrorist organisation is in need of funds, so they hire a convicted hacker to break into government financial sites using the systems in a branch of the World Banc, keeping the police at bay by rigging the employees with explosive vests.
Content
Some explosions, one car chase, a lot of tension as we are shown the final face to face with the police first. The hacker works at the computer. The leader of the gang is cool. There is a sex act – but you don’t see anything and Halle Berry flashes her boobs once, which resulted in much publicity for the film. A bit of drinking and that’s about it.
A View
The opening sequence is well done, but somehow the rest of the film never quite lives up to it. It cost a lot, and earned John Travolta a nomination for Worst Actor in the Razzies. Some critics saw it as a James Bond without the humour. But what the hell, if you like action pics there are worse ways of spending an hour and a half, and I liked the use of the TVR Tuscan.
