Elevator Pitch
A group of criminals lead by a devious American woman, Wanda, carry out a diamond heist in Hatton Garden, but unbeknown to the three guys she intends to double-cross all of them. Her plans go awry when one is arrested, but has hidden the diamonds in a safe deposit box somewhere. To find them she must get close to the man’s barrister, an uptight Englishman married to a woman who prefers gardening to sex.
Content
Time spent in the flat owned by the animal lover of the team, in the barrister’s house and in the flat which he borrows for the tryst with Wanda. A lot of smart dialogue. Three dogs are accidentally killed. Some tropical fish are eaten. Just a bit of male nudity and some non- revelatory sex.
A View
Although now nearly 30 years old there are a lot of laughs to be had in this movie. It is good fun. Kevin Kline won the Oscar for Best Supporting Role, and the film was nominated for many awards and won a few. Apparently JLC was chosen for True Lies after James Cameron had seen her in this. Did not cost much but made a fortune.
