Elevator Pitch
In Appaloosa, New Mexico in 1882 a US Marshall and his deputy are hired by the town dignitaries to regain control of the place from a rancher with a lot of hired gunmen, who has killed the previous marshall. They arrest the rancher and try to get him through the legal process which is to end in his execution, but things do not go well. In the meantime a newly arrived widow who, it seems, will screw anybody who will protect her, adds to the mayhem.
Content
A lot of gunfire at various points. Much time spent in the hotel in the primitive town centre and equally out on the prairie as the heroes and the villains ride from place to place, both by train and on horseback. A lot of sitting about on the board walk, waiting for things to happen. A bit of nudity viewed through a telescope.
A View
Not a bad western, which was quite well thought of, although for me Miss Zellweger still showed too many signs of Bridget Jones. But apart from that, if you enjoy the genre it is worth a watch, since westerns are much rarer than they used to be.
