Source of story
Startrek TV, and actually this is a continuation of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
Elevator Pitch
An alien probe disables all the power system on earth apparently trying to contact whales, but there are none left, so Kirk, Spock et al return to 1986 in a Klingon warbird to find some and bring some back to the 23rd century.
Content
Much humour derived from the crew in 1986 San Fransisco, some almost romance between Kirk and the the lady looking after two whales, George and Gracie (named, one assumes, after George Burns and Gracie Allen). Some good scenes involving the Klingon ship which has the ability to be invisible (cloaked).
A View
I laughed out loud a number of times as the crew grappled with 20th century norms, and found “Gillian” charming – but I am old. Just good fun, which some of today’s film makers could learn from.
