The Terminator

Terminator

Released 1984 Rating 15 in UK
Director James Cameron Writer/s James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd
Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton
Source of story An original screenplay
Elevator Pitch In the future humans, led by John Connor, are battling with the machines which have taken over the planet, so in order to eliminate him, they send a cyborg back in time to kill his mother. To protect her a human is also sent back, but they are hardly a match for the Terminator
Content Lots of tension and frequent well orchestrated violence, some aspects of which have entered the collective movie memory.
A View A gripping story, with the humans attempting to survive despite the superior skills of the Terminator. Well worth a watch, particularly if you have not seen it before. Don’t be put off by later inferior sequels (I’m rereading this and actually all the sequels have something going for them – except for Terminator 5: Genisis).
