Summary: Ezekiel Mannings is a crime boss who has been seen shooting a man by an assistant, Nick Murch. Hence Mannings is under guard in America while witness Murch is being moved in London by a security force. Meanwhile a courier is approaching on a big motor bike with a package for the team. This package turns out to be a gas system intended to eliminate the witness, but Murch in in the lavatory, and the courier has an agenda. She rescues him, and they escape to an underground car park where they are hunted by a group of men armed with automatic weapons. Over time the courier eliminates the armed men, but are there forces involved beyond her control?
Content: No sex or nudity, or drinking or smoking. Mannings sits about in Manhattan waiting for things to go his way. Murch is guarded by many armed men, but the female leader is a traitor. Murch and the courier are trapped in the car park. There is a lot of gunfire. The courier engages in hand to hand combat at various times. It is implied that she is motivated by an event in the middle east. Eventually they escape to the roof of the building and are targeted by a sniper. The leader of the assassins talks to a man in the CIA at times.
A View: This outing has hardly been seen by anyone, and has been generally disliked, some critics saying that this has been Gary Oldman’s worst film ever. At least one critic has said that what it most needed was a script that makes sense. I admit that I usually look at the Wikipedia entry to clear up any problems I have understanding the plots of what I watch, but in this case it was no help. So there is no point in trying to understand why things are happening as they do, but if you enjoy a shoot’em up the action is just about acceptable.
Olga Kurylenko, who is Ukrainian, has a distinguished film career, mostly in glamourous support roles. I think she started in Hitman, moving on to being the Bond girl in The Quantum of Solace and amongst many other outings supported our hero in Johnny English Strikes Again.
