Elevator Pitch: Mephistopheles now in the person of businessman Roarke communicates with his son, born to a young woman with whom he had made a deal years before. The boy has been kidnapped by the woman’s boyfriend and the devil has plans for him. Meanwhile Moreau, a motor cycle riding monk enlists the help of Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider to rescue the boy, The monk says that if Johnny helps him he will be released from his alter ego. The monk, the mother and Johnny make their way to a rendezvous where the devil is meeting with his son in a ceremony before hundreds of acolytes. They intend to rescue the boy, but Blaze has been relieved of his ability to transform, so what can he do.
Content: No sex or nudity, despite the requirement for the devil to have sex with the young woman, Nadya. Moreau and Johnny Blaze get together in pursuit of the boy. There is a lot of driving across country. They visit an area in the country (no indication of which one) containing a lot of cave dwellings. Later they creep up on a ceremony apparently taking place in a roman theatre. Ghost Rider appears in defence of the boy, taking on the villains. An acolyte of the devil has the ability of reducing anything he touches to decay. He and Ghost Rider battle at times.
A View: Neveldine and Taylor are well known for their extreme R rated “Crank” movies, which might have influenced the film going public, since despite terrible reviews, this film made money. I was unable to place Moreau’s accent but apparently he is French. Violante Placido as Nadya smoulders attractively and Cairan Hinds is demonic. But in the version I saw there was no sign as to how the boy had been conceived, and in the end the plot was all over the place. However, in my view, not as awful as the first film. Maybe not worth the download cost, quite a lot for some reason, but yet another curiosity almost so bad it’s good.
Here are a few mad Nic Cage films which have been reviewed on this site: Bangkok Dangerous, The Humanity Bureau and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
