Elevator Pitch: Turk Henry is a heavy metal star with unlimited funds married to a retired supermodel, Sheila. When they are on holiday in Chile Sheila is kidnapped by a gang of renegades who take her to their jungle hide-out and ask for a million dollars in ransome. Despite impediment from a keen CIA agent Turk attempts to pay the ransome.
Content: I had to be reminded that there are frequent flashbacks to boozy parties and events in brothels where a lot of drinking is taking place, these is some semi-nudity and implied sex. Throughout the film Turk is supplied with cans of beer by a young street vendor. Ther is some shooting and the inept CIA man is blown up by his own hand grenade. The supermodel seems to become friendly with the renegades.
A View: Said by the company to be a “truly hilarious action-packed romp” not! If you want to see a film about a drug addicted drunken rock star check out “Get Him to the Greek”. It actually is a hilarious action packed romp. This film was at best ill advised. What are these very competent actors doing in it? I refuse to express an opinion about it because it is absolutely pathetic.
Additional Info: Simon West’s directorial debut was the iconic “Con Air”.
