Elevator Pitch: Four lifelong friends, Billy, Paddy, Archie and Sam, now well past retirement age, pitch up in Las Vegas for Billy’s bachelor party since he is about to marry a woman about half his age. Although Paddy has joined the group he and Billy remain at odds because the latter did not attend the funeral of Paddy’s wife. Archie has brought along half his pension and wins $100,000 at blackjack, prompting the casino to award them the penthouse suite for their stay, Sam has been given the means and the permission to stray sexually by his wife and they all meet and fall slightly in love with mature lounge singer Diana. But Paddy believes that Billy is not really in love with Lisa, so what to do?
Content: There is no sex or nudity although a lot of young women appear scantily clad, particularly when the guys are roped in to judge a swimsuit competition. They do quite a bit of drinking. If gambling is a problem for anyone there is some. But mostly the four guys wander about in the town argue a bit, sit about a bit, go to a night club which costs them $1800 to get in and gradually move on to the formal party in the penthouse where everybody they have met in the town is invited.
A View: Once more I came to this without any information, and though that it was going to be some sort of old geezer’s criminal caper, but no such luck. You would think that any one of these superstars would have been able to carry this film along, but the plot is slim to non-existent really giving them little to do. In fact it is possible that they were having more fun making it than I had watching it. So there it is, one of those so called comedies which you can have on at no cost while doing something else.
Additional Info: Michael Douglas and Mary Steenburgen go on the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower Thrill Ride. It looks very odd.
