Elevator Pitch: When the Hogson family are plagued by supernatural visitations in 1970s Enfield, London, the famous investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren get to hear of it and come along to help. The Warrens witness the second daughter of the family being possessed, but not everybody is convinced, particularly when the girl is filmed physically destroying the kitchen, killing the poltergeist theory. But in an increasingly threatening environment they begin to realise that the ghost of the old man who threatens the family is actually a manifestation of a demon, putting their lives at risk.
Content: No sex or nudity, people are seen with pints in a London pub. There is a brief reprise of the Amityville Horror, where the demon nun appears. In Enfield there are numerous 70s British cars on the street (why on earth did anyone preserve this old crap). In the house the second daughter is often possessed and speaks in a weird voice. Then there are events in the cellars of the house, seeming to threaten Ed. The Warrens do not quite put things together until they are on a train and play two tape recordings at once, to reveal the supernatural voices, and the existence of the demon.
A View: This is a spooky tale quite well done, although as usual I had a bit of trouble with the logistics. Anyone familiar with the construction of a between the wars British semi will know that the large bedroom to which the Warrens were assigned is the one over the stairs and is only just big enough to take a single bed. Also the basement in which much of the drama takes place, is unlikely to exist. But beyond this it was fun. So if you like some supernatural demonic possession, give this outing a go, for the moderate cost of a download.
Additional Info: Apparently due to an inexplicable series of events during the production of the first movie, a priest was brought in to bless the set for this film.
