Elevator Pitch
In a future 1997 the detectives of the LAPD are engaged in firefights with the street gangs of the city, but when one gang retires to their fortress and does not come out again the detectives enter the building and find bodies and blood. What has happened? Another gang is attacked in their leader’s penthouse once more leaving the detectives with a bloody aftermath to decypher. The secret service is also on the case, and they seem to know what’s going on. Lieutenant Mike Harrigan finds evidence that the attacker is an alien, but as his team is being taken down can he win the day on his own.
Content
A lot of set pieces involving gangs and gunfire, sometimes as they fight the police and sometimes as they fight the alien. We see the alien’s view of the men in the street red, green and blue blobs so we know the score. The police also have confrontations with the “city hunter” on a subway train and the secret service attempt to capture it in an abbatoir. Many people die in quite graphic ways and there is a bit of sex and female nudity. There is no drinking I don’t think, but the criminal gangs do a lot of coke.
A View | This sequel was not a big hit, one or two of the critics complaining that the alien has no back story, and actually nor do the detectives. It is really the predator versus various humans in different situations, and mostly it seems to be winning. Despite its quite moderate budget it looks likely to have just broken even if we include the cost of publicity. Probably if you have seen the first one this might be worth your time. | ||
