Assault on Precinct 13 (2005)

Duration 1h 49m Rating (UK) 15
Source of story Loosely based on a 1976 film scripted by John Carpenter
Writer/s Script James DeMonaco
Director Jean-Francois Richet
Starring Ethan Hawke, Lawrence Fisgburne, Gabriel Byrne, Maria Bello, Drea de Matteo, John Leguizamo, Brian Dennehy
Elevator Pitch A police station manned by a retiring cop, a drug dependent sargeant and a secretary, which is about to be shut down is required to temporarily house a bus load of prisoners during a snow storm on New Year’s Eve. No problem then, except that one of the convicts is a gang boss with links to corrupt police. When the station is attacked those on both sides of the law are forced to work together to survive.
Content The station is pretty constantly under attack by snipers and SWAT guys with night vision, so continous tension and frequent fire fights. People are killed on both sides. Quite a bit of swearing but no nudity, drinking, sex or drug taking.
A View I’m with the 50% who liked this, although nothing is perfect and to say more would be a spoiler. A watch if you like competently constructed B movies, and be alert during the initial scene, it is riveting.
