Elevator Pitch |
A renowned chef, whose marriage has failed and whose relationship with his son has been destroyed by his work, faces irreconcilable differences with his employer and a restaurant critic, resulting in him walking out and taking up an offer from his ex-wife’s ex-husband to refurbish a food truck and drive it across the country, helped by his former assistant in the kitchen and his son, who sets up an “El Jefe” twitter feed. |
Content |
A lot of time spent in the kitchen and in the food van as it is refurbished and driven home. Some bonding between the chef and his son. Quite a bit of cooking. |
A View |
Probably this is a bit indulgent, since the writer, director and actor has been unrestrained in his creative endeavours, which some critics claim has been an allegory of his real life. The big time actors have walk-ons. In the end a bit disappointing, even though I knew nothing about Jon Favreau’s history. No idea why it is a 15. |
