Sci-Fi - Aliens

Released 2012 Rating 12A
Director Peter Berg Writer/s Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber
Starring Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgard,
Source of story Amazingly – the Hasbro game of the same name
Elevator Pitch Alien invaders in five space craft attack earth when their planet is contacted by Hawaian scientists. Their sophisticated sea craft battle with the US Pacific fleet, and it becomes evident that the humans must prevent a further signal being broadcast if earth is to survive.
Content Lots of ships steaming about at high speed. Pitched battles between the warships and the alien craft with the use of sophisticated weaponry on both sides, with lots of explosions and sinkings, although no-one actually seems to get killed, except for some aliens.
A View This film was totally panned by professional and amateur critics, but it made money. And honestly what’s not to like about a fleet steaming at full speed to the music of AC/DC. I thought the alien missiles were particularly good until I found out that they were modelled on the pegs in the game. Rihanna was OK, you’d have to see it to enjoy the irony. Liam Neeson could never make an Admiral.
