Elevator Pitch |
Screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and nine others are called before Congress to answer allegations that they are members of the communist party. They do not answer and Trumbo is jailed for 11 months, and is blacklisted as part of an extensive witch-hunt that affects the whole entertainment industry for years. |
Content |
A lot of views of Trumbo writing in the bath. Everyone drinks and smokes a lot. Family arguments, formal speeches, meetings for and against the group. |
A View |
The whole business of the Blacklist is covered better elsewhere. It is an extrordinary period in American history not very interestingly portrayed in this film, which drags along until the arrival of Kirk Douglas and Spartacus. We dozed a bit. |
