The Revenant (2015)

Released 2015 Rating 15 in UK
Director Alejandro G Iñárritu Writer/s Alejandro G Iñárritu, Mark L Smith
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, Paul Anderson,
Source of story Basically an American legend, turned into a novel by Michael Punke, and used in part as a source
Elevator Pitch An American woodsman leading a group of fur trappers is attacked by a bear, and left for dead by those supposed to look after him. He survives and pursues them across an icy wilderness.
Content Meetings between Indians and white men result in violent confrontations, with people skewered by arrows. Everybody faced with stress in the extreme cold, and many suffering physical damage. There is a lot of blood.
A View While much of this film is impressive it seemed uneven to me, which might be due to the fact that the filmmakers have dispensed with any possible sort of reality for dramatic effect. I have to write it somewhere so here it is: It seemed just a bit more important because Pedro Almodovar was watching it in the same screen as us, in  Madrid.
