Plot of Venom: Let There Be Carnage: Eddie Brock, a journalist on the Daily Bugle lives with a symbiote, Venom which can take over his body and has super powers, but constantly wants to bite people’s heads off with its enormous teeth, which Eddie does not allow. In flashback we see Cletus Kasady and Francis Barrison as young lovers, but Francis has a superpower. As Shriek she can cause destruction with her voice. But she is imprisoned and isolated and Cletus becomes a serial killer and in the present is due for execution by lethal injection. Cletus asks to speak to Eddie and reveals the location of his victim’s bodies, and also asks that he be present at his execution. During an argument Cletus bites Eddie’s hand, ingests some of Venom’s blood and creates Carnage, which is a bit like Venom only scarier. Carnage helps Cletus escape from the execution cell, and with the rescue of Shriek from her incarceration. The two, trio? go on the rampage eventually pursued by Eddie and Venom.
Content: So sex or drug taking, but maybe some drinking. We see Eddie and Venom in sort of domestic situations and Venom moving from one body to another eventually appearing fully formed in a night club, where everyone thinks he is a human in a costume. Carnage emerging from Cletus kills people and bites off their heads and Shriek at times uses her superpower. Eventually Carnage and Venom have to duke it out, which goes on for a long time. Anne Weying, Eddie’s former fiancée appears at times helping out in various ways.
A View: This film was moderately well thought of by the critics and seems to have made some money. Apparently there are fans of the genre and some of the scenes are based on 1990s comic presentations. I note that the first film was less well liked but made more money. Eddie and Venom are portrayed as an odd couple, providing the opportunity for some humour. Probably a watch for nothing while doing your knitting.
Fun Fact: The IMDb Trivia tells us that in a scene featuring an iguana, the lizard had two trainers and when not on stage it was kept in a heated environment.
