Plot of Angel Has Fallen: Mike Banning is still working for the president of USA and goes out fishing with him on an isolated lake. Suddenly everyone is attacked by a swarm of drones, Banning being excluded, but is able to save the president by throwing him over the side of the fishing boat. Later the president is unconscious in hospital and the Vice president is setting up warfare against Russia. Meanwhile Banning has been framed for the attack and is being chased by the FBI and is on the run, eventually hiding with his old dad in the woods. The aggressors are a group called Salient Global and they are still after the president, we see that the VP is the man whose orders they are following. The villains attack Banning’s dad’s cabin but they escape. The FBI find that Banning is innocent but the investigating officer is killed when she visits Salient’s headquarters. Can Banning save the president despite the obstacles?
Content: No sex or nudity. Banning takes a lot of tablets to combat various ailments. Although I did not register it, I am sure that at some point alcohol was consumed. Banning has a go in Salient’s training system, because he used to work with the boss of the organisation. When he goes fishing with the president we see the drone attack, with the drones identifying the people to be taken out with facial recognition. The are car chases and at one point Banning escapes in a truck. When he and his dad are escaping from the cabin in the woods the whole place explodes killing all the villains. As well as that there are a lot of gunfights with automatic weapons.
A View: I have watched a lot of dross recently so despite its rather repetitive presentation I found this outing quite a lot of fun. It was made more exciting by having the unfortunate Banning being chased by both the villains and the good guys, and I was a bit distressed when Thompson, the FBI agent was killed which shows that they had got the character right I think. So, if you saw either of the last two films and enjoyed them give this one a go, It’s not bad.
Fun Fact: I think Gerard Butler has done a great job, since he originates from Paisley outside Glasgow. You can see him being Scottish in RocknRolla.
