Plot of Jurassic World: Rebirth. Martin Krebs represents a pharma giant who have the idea that if they can collect blood samples from the three major forms of dinosaur, they can develop a means of preventing heart failure. The dinos are still living in a tropical band of tropical jungle from which people are banned. He hires Zora Bennett, a special ops expert who gets the band together, including a palaeontologist and a guy with a boat and a team to operate it. Meanwhile the Hispanic Delgado family in a sailing boat, are attacked by a massive marine dino and send out a distress message. Zora’s guys rescue them and on they all go into the dinosaur world, landing on the island of Saint-Hubert where we know there have been genetically modified dinosaurs developed. Zora’s team continue to go through the business of collecting blood samples, particularly endangered when getting the fluid from a Quetzalcoatlus egg. Just attempting to survive, the Delgados are chased by a variety of dinosaurs particularly a T.Rex. Eventually they link up with the scientists, but will any of them escape from the deadly environment?
Content: No sex or nudity, but when getting the band together there is a meeting in a bar, so probably some drinking. The opening scene indicates that there are vast predatory life forms on the island. We see a scientist carried off into the darkness. There is an extensive marine scene with Duncan Kincaid’s boat chasing a marine dino and Zora on the bow shooting a dart. The security man is snapped up by a swimming velociraptor and Krebs shows himself to be a villain, preventing Delgado’s daughter from sending a Mayday message and allowing her to fall into the sea. We see the boat beached on the island and over time other crew members are snapped up, literally, by the creatures. The Delgados in an inflatable boat paddle away, chased by the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Eventually the survivors are faced with some genetically altered creatures including the vast Distortus Rex, which is unnervingly similar to the embryonic creature in Alien.
A View: My wife and I like to go to the cinema on a Friday afternoon in Madrid, particularly attractive now since we are on summer cheap prices. We chose to see different films, my choice being more or less limited to the latest Jurassic World outing. What can I say, although the creatures were incredibly well done, the humans were less developed. I could never quite understand what made Zora the chosen leader, Krebs, the evil pharma guy, was not nearly evil enough and Duncan, the boat owner did not seem to have any marine capability. He even lacked the ability to give an instruction to set a course. And then the Delgados! Shoehorned in for family viewing. It has been variously reviewed by the critics, and I find myself with those who would not recommend it.
Fun Fact: The writer, David Koepp, was the writer of the original Jurassic Park in 1993.
