The Plot of Tarot: A group of young people have hired a mansion in the woods for a weekend, and after sitting round afire in the grounds they explore the house, finding a set of tarot cards in a box in the cellar. One of the group is a tarot reader and is persuaded to read her friend’s fortunes, even though she protests that you are not supposed to read using someone else’s cards. Al the group receive readings, each one getting a card portraying Death, the Devil, the High Priestess, the Fool, and the Magician. But back in the outside world they start to be killed in various unpleasant ways. Haley and Grant, appearing to be the only survivors contact a lady. Alma, for help and return to the mansion with her, but she also falls victim to a manifestation of the card she is dealt, so how will the survivors survive.
Content: No sex or nudity, drinking smoking or drug taking. The group sit about in the grounds of the mansion and then explore it inside. They engage in the tarot readings in a room illuminated solely by a log fire in the grate. Back in the real world they start to die, being chased in various ways by demonic characters. The only one I remember in detail is that when Paige is sawn in half by the Magician. There is bit of a back story about the tarot deck which explains why it is cursed, and a way in which the curse may be lifted.
A View: This film has been little liked and actually not much viewed. But nevertheless might have made some money. We saw it in the cinema in Madrid in a week when there was not much choice, the alternative was a Planet of the Apes outing which was going to go on for a very long time. If there was a problem with Tarot it was that the characters were totally undeveloped, so despite the fact that they were dying we were quite unconcerned. But on the plus side, it did have a plot and a conclusion and it as not too long.
Fun Fact: Only one item in the IMDb Trivia.
