Fast & Furious 10 or Fast X (2023)

Plot of Fast X: You may recall the F&F guys stealing a vast steel secure room in an earlier F&F. Ewell, it turns out that this resulted in the death of the owner and puts his son, Dante Reyes, on the path of revenge, and now he has caught up with Dom and his team. The team are sent off to Rome, but Dom is informed by Cipher that it is all a trick sending him off in pursuit and causing him to face up to Reyes for the first time. The villain releases a bomb into the city, but Dom manages to minimise the damage. However the team are pursued and Letty, Dom’s wife imprisoned. Dom’s small son is rescued by his brother Jakob, and they go to Portugal and safety, apparently. Reyes goes to Rio, pursued by Dom and they meet on the clandestine race track, where Reyes causes chaos. The rest of the team go to London to get help from Shaw and Letty gets help to escape from her prison.

Content: There is no sex or nudity although the film returns briefly to the street racing environment which always involves young woman in short shorts and halter tops. There is a scene in the garden of Dom’s suburban house with everyone sitting about drinking beer and eating. Once we start on the set pieces Reyes is usually seen operating some sort of radio control device and Dom driving grimly in his supercar. The bomb in Rome is a ball rolling down the streets, only stopped when Dom’s car leaps into the air to swing a crane round.  Jacob and Dom’s son escape is a small aircraft at one point. Letty fights her way out of jail. In London the team go to Shaw for help, but don’t actually seem to do anything. Dom drives along grimly a lot.

A View: After the first scene in the garden of Dom’s house you might as well forget everyone except Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa and John Cena although I enjoyed the appearance of Rita Moreno as the glamourous grandmother. This film cost a stunning $330 million, and even though it has returned a box office of more than $700 million, may just have broken even. Vin Diesel is nominate for Worst Actor. Surely he will win. There were a number of good looking blonde ladies involved but I never quite got who they were, and a number of dark haired young women. No not them either. So honestly definitely not watch unless, like me, you have an urge to collect the set.

Fun Fact: It was said that Vin Diesel would come on set every day and change everything. Could be the reason for Justin Lin’s departure.
