Summary: Nate Drake, as smart young man working as a barman, with ambitions to be a treasure hunter, is recruited by professional treasure seeker Sully, Victor Sulliman and together they embark on a voyage of discovery taking in a number of capital cities and jungle locations, where they search for and find, clues to the location of Ferdinand Magellan’s hidden treasure. They gain the assistance of Chloe Frazer who holds one of the keys to various points in the search, and who may or may not, always be on their side. But generally against them is Santiago Moncada, who believes that the treasure is his, and who is assisted by Jo Braddock a female mercenary known to Sully from his previous adventures.
Content: Nothing to offend anyone I don’t think apart from some drinks being mixed in the bar where Nate works. Nate has a brother from whom he is separated when young and who is a sort of shadow in subsequent events. At an auction Nate causes a distraction which allows Sully to steal a golden cross, the twin of which is held by Chloe. There are many scenes of secret entrances tunnels and chambers being found which only lead to further secrets and place the participants in danger. At times the opposition catch up with them and there are fights, and a big scene where pallets roll out of a plane in the air, with Nate on one, and Chloe in a Mercedes. Finally Magellan’s ships are lifted into the air by cargo helicopters, and there are fights between them.
A View: I’ve had a look at the game which seems to feature Nate mainly leaping from rock to rock, and shooting the bad guys, well, this film is just a bit different as we mostly don’t know who is going to partner who, and throughout people constantly find secret signs and passages. It is probably just a bit irritating since despite the constant crises you never quite feel that our heroes are in danger. The film is said to have cost $120 million, and the indications are that it has made money. Maybe a watch if you like the game.
