Life (2017)

Released 2017 Rating (UK) 15
Source of story An original screenplay – with nods to Alien
Writer/s Script Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick
Director Daniel Espinosa
Starring Hiroyuki Sanada, Ryan Reynolds, Rebecca Furguson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Olga Dihovichnaya, Aryon Bakare
Elevator Pitch A team on the International Space Station have the task of recovering a probe which is laden with Mars dust and then carrying out an analysis of what it has brought back in a suitably quarantined environment. They are overjoyed when they find life and encourage a single cell to develop in what they think are controlled conditions. But even when still very small it proves to be intelligent and aggressive. Can they control it as it grows?
Content The whole movie either inside or outside the space station. Dramatic from the start as they recover the probe. And it is probably not a spoiler to say that they are forced to move from compartment to compartment as they are pursued by the alien creature, which is apparently intent on using them for food and procreation.
A View Generally thought of as being good fun, and we thought so too although there are failings in the plot which you have to be prepared to overlook. Lots of tension and impressive space stuff which made the time pass quickly. Well worth the ticket price if you are either a horror or SF fan.
