Life of Brian

Released 1979 Rating 15 in UK
Director Terry Jones Writer/s The Pythons
Starring Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones
Source of story An original screenplay
Elevator Pitch A boy is born in a stable next door to the one in which Jesus Christ is born, and as a consequence is mistaken for the Messiah and so follows a parallel path, coming up against the Romans, subversive elements and his own followers and eventually crucifiction.
Content Loads of jokes about events similar to those described in the Bible. Some nudity, both male and female, but so inoffensive that I have included this in “Comedy – Family”.
A View The Pythons made a number of films, but this is by far the best, and at the time they had fun debating the blasphemy in it, or not, with ernest religious people on TV. I have watched this many times, and always really enjoy it.
